May Day May Day!

What another month has past! This year needs to slow down. After Mike's surgery I have felt like my life is spinning out of control!
We have had birthdays, graduations, daddy daughter dance with prep, baseball games, soccer games, dance, running, biking, swimming, Easter, family time, weight watchers and tons of fun.

Jersey Jean turned 9! NINE! What? How did this happen? I can't believe it. Jersey is growing up so beautifully. I'm really proud to have her as my daughter. She asks why I pick on her to help me out at times? I tell her it's just a part of growing up. She didn't really like that answer. I love hanging out with her. A boy even called her on the phone tonight. WHAT!!!! No! I know it's only a few short years. Seriously we need some kind of serum to making children stop growing so they can be with us a little longer.
Mike is recovering nicely from his surgery. He is now walking with a limp but no crutches. He has his hands back. I told him that now that he is feeling better it's time for him to pick up some slack. (kidding) I would be no good as a single parent, I know this to be true. Mike helps me with everything from running the kids places to making dinner. I don't cook very well. I like to buy the food to make things but Mike is usually the one who cooks the food. His leg is still swollen at night because of the things he is doing during the day. He takes full advantage of his days off.
My brother in law Graduated from BYU on Jersey's birthday. We went done to support him and my sister. Graduation always make me cry. A part of me really wants to go back to school and get my degree. The other part still doesn't know when I would have the time, money, energy to go back. I really don't know what I want to be when I grow up. The things that I would like to be I think it's a little to late.
Phoenix is on the River Cats Rookie league for baseball. He is doing well. Better than last year for sure. He likes to talk so when he is on the field his mouth doesn't stop moving. He is doing great in soccer. He is one of the fastest on his team. But how do you teach a kid that it's okay to be aggressive on the soccer field? I have enjoyed watching him play both sports.
Jersey is doing better at dance. She loves going and would love it if I would sign her up for competition dance. Not until she is 12. She very graceful when she dances.

Seriously I wrote this at the beginning of the month and now it's two until the end of this month. Oh goodness. I really need to blog more.  Here is to more posts!

Skiing fun

My husband work at a local ski resort, Snowbird. We haven't taken full advantage of our benefit we get because he works there.
I took the day off because the kids had the day off too. I wanted to go skiing. With recent snow here in Utah. I was hoping for a good day. I'm a fair weather skier. I like the fresh snow but I want the sun and no wind. That is a rare combination. But we got that today. The kids didn't really want to go but the threat of having to clean the house didn't sound as much fun as skiing.
A perfect day on the slopes and the children did great. Phoenix is feeling more comfortable getting off the lift with me ( I snowboard not ski like the kids). Jersey is a speed demon on the slopes and loves to try to jump. After lunch the kids were done with skiing. Me? I wanted to keep going, I had to given in to the whines. I had a great workout though. I am hoping to have a chance to ski again just Mike and I before the season is

A goodnights rest

Last night both children went to bed at 7:00pm. WOW! Amazing! This occurrence is very rare in our house. What is even more rare is when they stay asleep all night long. Which just so happened was the case. Two kids in bed what are parents to do with themselves? Well I will tell what we did and it's not anything my mother wouldn't be able to read.
Mike and Rhiannon's night was:
-watching the Grammy's
-folding laundry
-reading the newspaper
-having another snack (we didn't have dinner)
-watching the news
- talking to my mom on the phone
-Rhiannon going to bed early
-Mike watching a movie
-sleeping with no interuptions.......priceless.....until 6:30am
Yep 6:30am both were up and ready to go. Well Jersey not Phoenix because he was wet and Jersey didn't want him in her room. I went into change him and Jersey was in her bed reading a book to her stuffed animals.
I told them both that Mom and Dad were still tired and when they heard our alarm go off they could come into the room. They were quite happy in spite of their early morning. So they must of had a good nights sleep. I wish I had.

Rejuvenated

Yesterday we had the pleasure of going to the temple. This weekend is our stake conference and so Wednesday was stake Temple day. We signed up for sealing since we were not going to be able to go to the session at night. We both felt we needed to go but things kept getting in the way.
The night before we got a call from the appraiser that he could come between 10am-12pm, right when we were to be at the Temple. Mike said that was fine forgetting that we were going. I thought OK we will not go but I felt disappointed. I told Mike to call the guy and see if there was another time he could come and if that was the only time he could come then we wouldn't got but if he said that he come later then we would go. So Mike called and of course he said he could come later. Then we got in car and drove to the Temple. We had plenty of time but we went down a street that had major road construction so our time was getting shorter. We get to the Temple and it was packed no parking spots. We then realized that we didn't bring any change for Mike to get socks so we had to walk back to the car and see if we could find change. We didn't know how much we needed so there was a little bit of panic. Inside the Temple they had already started doing some sealings but we were still able to attend if we hurried. So I hurried to get dress and I ripped my dress down the back. I was so embarrassed but with no money to get a new one I just hoped it was a little rip. I asked someone and they said it was small but when we were done the rip was down my dress. Despite all the craziness that happened before we reached the sealing room it seemed to disappear when we entered the room.
Mike and I haven't done sealings since we were married so we didn't know what to expect. I kept telling Mike that we would have to ask if we could kiss over the alter since that is something I didn't do when we got married. But since we were late I didn't want to ask. But I also don't think that is something you can do. Mike teases me about that all the time that I didn't want to kiss him. I did but I think I couldn't focus on really what was happening that I said no when I was thinking yes. Oh well maybe someday.
As soon as we got home I had to hurry and eat and go to work. Mike and kids met up with me later for dinner at my work. It was a nice thing to end the day. I was able to also be home with the kids to help them go to bed.
I feel so grateful for the many things that I have. I'm so happy I have a great husband and two kids. I know that this might sound cheesy but I'm in a really happy place in life and I'm glad that I know how this feels.

It's official

For all those inquiring minds out there in blog world. I found out yesterday that my arm is broken. Just in time for the holidays. I will be getting a hard cast next Monday. The Doctor said I could have one that is red with candy cane trim. WOW! I can look like a bigger dork than I already am. Hooray for dorkdum.
I do have to say that this incident could have been worse so I'm grateful that it's a broken arm and nothing more.

We are back home

I love going on vacation but the thing I love most about vacation is the coming home part. Not that coming home means there is no cleaning or laundry to be done just that you do what you want, kids playing with their toys like it is Christmas morning, getting the mail and to be amazed by the lack of great mail you receive, bills don't count, I think the best thing is laying on my bed that I have missed so much these last few days. Yes, vacation is nice but coming HOME is even better.
So here is a run down of what we did while we were gone: *sledding, *skiing, *snowboarding, * eating snow, *swimming more than twice a day, *eating junk food, *spending time at the Snowbird clinic, *visiting Mike at Work, *making rolls, *making crafts, *watching movies, *playing games, *staying up late, *looking at Christmas ads, *enjoying family, *not getting out of our jams, and HAVING A GREAT TIME!
Everyone was pretty sad to leave. But we all know we will be there next year same time same place.

Oh what a night or should I say morning?

This morning I did a little SIL bonding time. I'm sure most women would know what I did at 12am this morning, but if you have been living under rock and have never heard of Twilight or that the movie was coming out this morning, I'm a little surprised.
We went to the movie and had a wonderful time watching all the crazies. I can't say we aren't crazy because we have had our tickets for about 3 months waiting for this day. But I didn't show up in my prom dress. At the theater we went to, they had a Prom before the movie. I tried to take pictures of people without them seeing me but it was a little hard. So the pictures that I did get weren't the greatest but I will still post them. (After my battery is charged on my camera because it died) Even though we didn't wear Prom dresses we did however wear or better than the store I "heart" shirts that were Twilight themed. I had co-workers asking where I got such a great shirt. I said they were one of kind originals by Jen&Rhi. Yeah we are going to start a business.
I did enjoy the movie. I thought it was good. There were some parts that I was like boring but that is also how I felt about the book at times. I'm excited to see what happens in the next films even though I know the outcome. I was so excited when I got home I suppose because of all the Diet Coke I had to drink to stay awake. When I got home my body knew it was time for bed but my head won't stop thinking about the movie(Edward). Combine that with having to sleep on the couch because my bed was a little crowded and listening to the cats eat their food. It made for some great sleep. I was finally out, when Mike woke me up. I asked him to so that we could talk before he left for work. I have never drank so that I don't know what a hangover is suppose to feel like but if it's how I feel right now. Groggy and a little disoriented. I'm sure glad I have never had a drink.
I'm so glad I have great SILs they are truly my best friends. When I was growing up I always wanted to be little sister and have someone to look up to, I'm glad I have my SIL because they are wonderful ladies and the greatest gals a girl could ask for.

Utah vs. BYU...Where do your allegiances lie?

TAKE MY POLL ABOUT THE BIG GAME >

From Mike:
As I continue to grow older and recognize how crazy old people become crazy old people, I find solace in embracing the crazy old person in me and doing stupid stuff like this. I have never been the hardcore football fanatic nor particularly decided on who I am cheering for in this rivalry of rivalries. But this year I have thrown down the symblomatic gauntlet on at least two occasions inviting contenders to take up my challenge.

First, was last Sunday when I sent Phoenix to church in something I would never allow him to wear on any other occasion, a sweatshirt. A University of Utah sweatshirt. I was surprised at how few comments I received about the blazing red sweatshirt with "U" and feather.Second was this doosy of an idea I got when I came home today. I've had the hair-brained idea of putting a "U" on the roof of my house but I don't really want to place a bunch of nails in the roof just to place a giant "U" on the roof for two days of the year (What kind of fan am I?). This is where the old man part comes in. It is likely that something will happen to my master piece in the front yard, which will likely cause me to do something bigger and far more bold next year and so the downward spiral begins.

Having been raised in Utah all my life I have experienced the full gamit of insanity that rivalry week puts on the forefront but never have I participated so fully. It may be because of my torn history. Growing up a Cougar fan doesn't make it easy to turn the other way. It's funny though how paying a school a bunch of money for a piece of paper on my wall has turned me into a Utah Man.

So the question is where do your allegiances lie and why? And to all those Mesa, Arizonans that love BYU because of Max Hall, think of this: 1) He left ASU after one year and now your program sucks. 2) He went to Mtn. View for crying out loud!

HSM3

Oh yeah! Yes we went to see HSM3 this weekend. We bought our tickets like three weeks ago. Mike and I took Jersey with us. We had a Dad-Mom-Daughter Date. I was so excited to go I couldn't wait for Mike to come home from work. My SIL had called earlier in the day to tell me that she saw the movie with her kids and they loved it. She even cried. I thought that was funny, I could hear her kids in the back ground say how embarrassing she was. (she has a teenager) My excitement was growing even more.

Mike got home and we took Phe to my MIL and headed off to the movie theater. We didn't have a whole lot of time to sit down and eat but we manage to eat a Chick-fil-a. That place is so good. I could never get sick of eating there. Jersey loved it. We got to the movie theater and took our seats. At this particular movie theater when you order or buy tickets at the theater you get assigned seating. So we had some fabulous seats. The trailers for the other movies coming out were pretty hilarious. I wish we could go to the movies more often.

Anyways the movie was the best! The best of all 3. I even cried, (I was self conscious about the tears I didn't want Mike to see but when I looked over at him his eyes were all weld up with tears too). I think because I could relate to how they all felt at the end of their Senior Year because I felt the same way. The music was great. The other reason I love HSM is because I worked at East High my first year living in Utah. I was the receptionist. That place holds a special place in my heart.

If you haven't seen the movie yet don't be ashamed go and see it. Mike and I got a good mocking at church yesterday because we said we went to see it. It's ok because it was a great movie I want to see it again. To bad I have to pay for it.

Cabella's

The Woolly bison are about to be attacked by the Arctic wolf! AAH!

Now you are entering the Serengeti.

Two weeks ago after we dropped Jersey off to school. Mike Phe and I went down to Cabella's a sporting goods store in Lehi. What an amazing store. I had never been there but the place was nuts. So much camping stuff. We had to go there to get a tent Mike had placed on hold. We walked around killing some time before going back home. They had all these animals that we stuffed. Phoenix was a little freaked out about the animals. He did like the "shoot guns" video game.

They also had giant fish tanks full of fish. I have never seen so many big fish. I tried to take pictures of them because they were so blog worthy but none of them turned out.

What a interesting place.

Good times

It is 12:10am and I'm still "playing" on the Internet. I know, I need to go to bed but not before I do I need to post one more thing. When I was looking for photos for my mom's post I came a cross some photos from Junior High. I thought since some of you are in these photos I would post them.

The first photo is from the last day of 8th grade and we were in Mr. Nichols math class. Mr Nichols was a crazy old man. I'm pretty sure I didn't learn a thing in that class.
These two photos of course were at Halloween. We use to go to my Grandparents neighborhood because it had better candy then our neighborhood. Plus we would have a big family gathering so I think it was just more convenient to see everyone at one place then to travel everywhere.

Since I have done this now I can sleep peacefully through the night.
