Skiing fun

My husband work at a local ski resort, Snowbird. We haven't taken full advantage of our benefit we get because he works there.
I took the day off because the kids had the day off too. I wanted to go skiing. With recent snow here in Utah. I was hoping for a good day. I'm a fair weather skier. I like the fresh snow but I want the sun and no wind. That is a rare combination. But we got that today. The kids didn't really want to go but the threat of having to clean the house didn't sound as much fun as skiing.
A perfect day on the slopes and the children did great. Phoenix is feeling more comfortable getting off the lift with me ( I snowboard not ski like the kids). Jersey is a speed demon on the slopes and loves to try to jump. After lunch the kids were done with skiing. Me? I wanted to keep going, I had to given in to the whines. I had a great workout though. I am hoping to have a chance to ski again just Mike and I before the season is

Snowbird summer fun!

Snow still at Snowbird. Longest season on record.
I teach a jewelry making class on Tuesdays up at Snowbird. Since the kids are out of school I try to bribe them that if they are good, we will do some fun summer activities. Last Tuesday, Mike was off of work, we took advantage of our Snowbird benefits and did some of the summer activities.
Jersey on the ropes course

First we did the ropes course. The ropes course from the ground looks silly and childish. Not when you are dangling up there do you realize that isn't the case. Jersey did a good job walking on the all the obstacles. Mike took Phoenix and I went by myself. I am scared of heights.  I was so nervous. I had to do it ,since there were a bunch of teenage boys pushing you along on the course. My heart was racing. All I kept thinking about, was that I wore the wrong shoes.

Look at my little monkey, she is in pink.
Gearing up for the rock wall

Looking up at the task at hand.
Jump jump around
After the ropes course we moved onto the rock wall. I wanted to do that but again the wrong shoes. Jersey was the only brave enough to do the rock wall. She made it close the top. She tried a few times but we had to tell she was done since there was a long line waiting for her to finish.
reliving the glory days
what are my parents doing to me?
Next, we went on the Euro trampolines. I don't know why they are called "Euro" but basically you are strapped to a belt with ropes on it and they pulled to you up some and let you go to bounce really high. I did a few backflips, Jersey did a few front flips and Phoenix just bounced. I haven't jumped on a trampoline like that in a long time. Last time was when I was in diving and we practice certain tricks on the tramp. After awhile I was very winded. I forget that the high mountain air can throw me into a asthma attack if I'm not careful.
Can I hang on for 8 seconds?
While I was recovering from my asthma attack, Jersey took some spins on the mechanical bull. We headed home for some lunch. We stopped at Pei Wei for some delicious Chinese. A great way to finish the day together as a family.

We are back home

I love going on vacation but the thing I love most about vacation is the coming home part. Not that coming home means there is no cleaning or laundry to be done just that you do what you want, kids playing with their toys like it is Christmas morning, getting the mail and to be amazed by the lack of great mail you receive, bills don't count, I think the best thing is laying on my bed that I have missed so much these last few days. Yes, vacation is nice but coming HOME is even better.
So here is a run down of what we did while we were gone: *sledding, *skiing, *snowboarding, * eating snow, *swimming more than twice a day, *eating junk food, *spending time at the Snowbird clinic, *visiting Mike at Work, *making rolls, *making crafts, *watching movies, *playing games, *staying up late, *looking at Christmas ads, *enjoying family, *not getting out of our jams, and HAVING A GREAT TIME!
Everyone was pretty sad to leave. But we all know we will be there next year same time same place.

What a week

Wow! It's been some time that I have posted something. Well let's see why Rhiannon has neglected this job. WE'VE BEEN BUSY!!!!!! I even have to look at my calendar to see what exactly that kept us so busy. Since Jersey has been off track we have been doing or trying to do one fun activity a week.

We spent some time at my sister in laws house. She just moved so I was trying to help her move furniture and maybe hang some pictures because she is feeling a little overwhelmed. She just bought a beautiful piano so I had to test it out. Someday, I would like a piano. While we were working on the decorating the kids were working a "show" My four older nieces love to dress up, sing and dance for everyone. So the rest of us were the audience. I have to give them so props for being very creative.
Last Friday Mike's summer passes at Snowbird were going to expire and because his mom was staying up at a condo this last week she took my kids up to ride the alpine slide, jump in the bounce houses and trampolines. Mike and his dad were having a race down the alpine slide and Phoenix was with Mike and Jersey was with Carl. Well as you can imagine to competitive men racing with two little kids someone has got to crash right? Carl did. He received most of the battle wounds Jersey just got a scrap on her arm.

We ended last week hanging out at Snowbird. I love it up there. The weather was perfect not to hot and not to cold. We took a tram ride to the top on the resort and took a hike down to what is called the Peruvian tunnel. It connects the two sides of the mountain. We walked through the tunnel and Phoenix kept saying that we were inside a dinosaur. We got to ride the chair lift down the mountain. I would have to say it was a little freaky just looking down. Jersey and Phoenix were nervous. At one point the chair lift stopped. I hear Jersey gasp. I don't think she took a breath until the chair lift started up again. After hanging out at October fest and seeing all the booths we headed for the pool. The "warm" pool as Jersey calls it wasn't that warm but she was doing really well on her "big arms" and swimming the length of the pool. I shed a tear of joy for her great desire for swimming. We also had to take in some hot tub time as well. I thoroughly enjoyed that.

Apparently a little to much because by six o'clock I was a lobster. The first sunburn of the season. Yeah for me since the "season" is over. It still didn't feel nice. When Mike got off work we headed down the mountain for home. Mike has been needing some new shoes so we went to the mall but we didn't see anything he liked. We decided to give up and try another day since I was now feeling the full wrath of my sunburn. But we stopped into Sport Chalet and there it was the mother of all sales. You know the sales, the sale that everything is marked down plus an additional amount taken off. I live for those sales. Mike found some great shoes for the price he wanted to pay. He also found some shorts that were just his size. I think I saw a smile on his face and he was shopping. We had been looking for a new ski coat for Jersey. I found a great deal on one. $15 for a nice coat and she can wear for a really long time. Phoenix was feeling a little sad because he didn't get anything.

To be continued................
