First tooth

It's funny how the new tooth is twice the size of the space. Braces here we come.
Isn't funny, us mothers, we get excited when our babies get their first tooth.
Then it's our children that get excited when they lose their first tooth.
We get sad because we know that braces are right around the corner.
This experience happened for Phoenix last night. We were eating waffles for dinner. He had just shoved a huge piece in his mouth. We heard a crunching sound. (I thought, I bet that is his tooth, he just ate it. ) Mike said "Phoenix what is that sound? " Phoenix shrugged his shoulders. Mike asked Phoenix to open his mouth, he smiled. There was a hole but no tooth. We told him that he probably ate it. He started crying(real tears) about how he has waited for weeks for the tooth to come out. He got scared that the tooth fairy was not going to come to him.
The letter says, I eat my tooth. I am sorry I ate my tooth last night. I brush all day. -Phoenix.
We said he should write a letter saying what happened.
A good story to tell.
 It has a happy ending.
Since you can't just summon the tooth fairy without teeth, Phoenix is in luck, Jersey had two teeth pulled today at the dentist. Under her pillow tonight will be a box with two teeth and a note.
Let's see how much money she leaves?

a new journey is about to be embarked

Last week, Mike and I took Jersey to the orthodontist. what a fun trip? (sarcasm enter here) I have know for a long time that Jersey's mouth would be a financial burden just by watching her baby teeth come in. They were bunching, tight, and sort of crooked. But they were baby teeth so we had to wait until the day her teeth decided to come out. At the beginning of the school year she lost two teeth on the bottom. Then recently one of her top teeth. The other top tooth is just dangling there and so snaggled. After taking the kids to the dentist, the dentist suggested that we go to the orthodontist for an evaluation on her teeth to see if pulling more teeth would be a good option.
We went to the same orthodontist that I went to because I liked them there. After having our free consultation we found out that Jersey's new teeth can't not come in until the dentist pulls some teeth (5) and the orthodontist needs to put a space maintainer on the bottom of her mouth. Because your bottom teeth are more shifty than the top teeth. (The full mouth x-ray confirmed my suspensions that she had a small mouth and big teeth.)
There are more phases to come with all those jumbled teeth. She of course thinks she is so cool to go to the orthodontist. Poor kid doesn't understand the pain that she is going to be in, in the years to come. She was blessed with a small mouth and big teeth.
I feel as though Mike and I are truly out of the baby stage of life. I was holding on hope that stage wouldn't go away, but trips to the orthodontist help you snap back to reality that you are a parent of school age child, that will soon be a tween, teenager, young adult and than an adult.
Oh heaven help me!

missing teeth

The day has finally arrived where Jersey's teeth have decided they would like to shake it up and bit. She lost two teeth last year just after school pictures were taken. But it's been forever since anything else has wanted to come out.
Jersey's two front teeth on top have been looking quite snarly as of late and I was just waiting and wondering if they would come out soon. Sure enough on Tuesday night she pulled the first one out. Leaving a gaping hole in her mouth. It's funny to see, she does look cute though. With her last two teeth, the new ones were right behind the baby teeth so we didn't get to see any holes in her mouth.
Jersey is starting to talk a bit funny and eat her on a different side of her mouth. I really can't wait until the other one is gone. She asked me on Wednesday if she was still cute? I said of course. She is a bit self conscience thanks to some kids at school.
Also since her baby teeth are already crowded and the new ones are coming in crazy we are going to be making a trip to the orthodontist. I see braces in the future for this child. Sooner than I was expecting.
