We Tri

Getting his bike.

Getting ready to ride.

Taking off for the run.

Mike finishing his run.

Rhi coming around the corner to finish.

We did it!

Last year I did my ever first triathlon. I couldn't believe that I would do such a thing. Since last year I got my very own road bike, I don't think I have had a bike since I was 10, new running shoes, a triathlon outfit, a bike helmet, biking gloves, sweet goggles and a fancy GPS watch. Just looking at me you could tell I was a veteran of the sport. No not really but I did know what to expect this year alot more than I did the prior year.
Last year, my husband was jealous and nervous for me all at the same time. When I wanted to sign up again for the race he was excited to sign up too. We are both competitive and with each other as well. I knew that he would beat me in the race. He would also be really nervous, so I tried not be annoying about how I've done this before I'm the expert on the subject.
This year the race was on the last weekend in July. Our months of swimming, running and biking were now going to be put to the test. The night before the race my sister-in-law had our children over to spend the night so that would be one less thing to worry about. I wanted to go get a pasta dinner but Mike thought it would be fun to Harry Potter again, don't get me wrong it was fun but it made for a long night afterwards. Just gathering the things we needed making sure we knew where our stuff was.
Sleeping was the worst. It was like Christmas waiting for that alarm clock to go off to say "TODAY IS THE DAY!!!" Because we were both so restless we got up to get ready. I hurried and made some peanut butter bagels and we loaded up the car. Getting to the starting line seeing the hundreds of bikes lined up gave you chills, there was a little breeze as well.
After lining up our bikes it was only 6am and we still had an hour and a half to go until the start. I could tell Mike was getting more nervous. I reminded myself that I could do this and do it well. I had trained better than last year and I was going to see the results today!

Way to Go! you should talk Kellie into coming down next year and doing it with you. I know she really wants to do a tri and she needs someone to do it with! I love the video of Phoenix. I keep hopelessly wishing for some good swimming and diving programs around here. Let me know if you ever find anything!

You're amazing Rhiannon! I'm so proud of you - and Mike too :) I've always had a triathlon on my bucket list. I did one in October, but it was an unofficial one, so I'm still aspiring for a "real" one.

Katie, you could a a tri. There is an all women's one in Vegas in April we should do the race together.
