In six weeks I'm going to participate in a triathlon. I need to run more. Since I'm not great at running I have been signing up to run in races so that I can get the feeling of not only a race but to know that I could run the whole time. Now I'm not sure how I will do after swimming and biking but at least I am trying to get my endurance up.
On Saturday, Mike, SIL Heather, her husband Adam and I ran in the Riverton Country Mile. It's a 10k. It was the first time I have ever ran 6.2 miles. I had two goals that day. One to not stop running and two to get a better time. I was able to do both. At my 3 mile mark I was at 47 min. That was 11 min faster than my last 5k. At the end of the race I finished 1:31min. I made 14 min miles. (again, I know that it's so great for people that are good runners but this was huge for me.) The best part was that I didn't stop running I ran the whole time. No slowing down when the hills got rough or when I could feel that my ankles were not going to pound the pavement any longer.
One huge motivation for me was that I was that absolute last person running in the race. The guy on the bike was following me that whole time. I felt bad that he was back pedaling on his bike so that he wouldn't pass me. I suppose that is why I didn't want to walk because he would end up walking his bike.
I did it! That is what matters to me. That could run 6.2 miles without stopping. My body of course wasn't a fan of mine later but it was worth it.
We have a neighborhood 5k this weekend. Another 10k in Snowflake, when we go for Pioneer Day and then the Tri.

Yay Rhiannon! Too bad we don't live close b/c I think we might run at the same pace. I can go without stopping, but I'm just not fast.
PS We have a family reunion the weekend of the 24th, so we won't be in Snowflake.
