Yesterday the weather went from hot and windy with a few lightening showers. To today, nice and cool, in the mid '70's. They say El Nino~ will be making an appearance this year. I can't wait to see if that will happen.
With the crazy dust storms and lightening showers to put all firefighters on edge. Fires started to break out. One such fire wasn't to far from home. My work is located by the airport and a fire started and was burning out of control due to the high winds. It was categorized as a 3 alarm fire. The fire spread and jumped I-80 towards the airport. They closed the road and were considering closing the whole freeway down to contain it.
Lucky they were able to contain the fire because the wind shifted and it started to burn back into itself. We couldn't see all of this go down but we sure could smell it. I was getting nervous when my lungs started to hurt. I didn't want to be a pansy but I almost called 9-1-1 because I needed some Oxygen. Since my shift was ending soon I was hoping that I could just go home, then if I was worse I would make decision. I was fine so I didn't need to go to the ER but on my way to work today the air was still smokey and my chest tighten up. I have done OK tonight so no worries.
I sometimes forget that I have a handicap. I also take things for granted like the freeway to get home at night.
Safe and sound, a little more grateful.
