How fun is Conference Weekend to sit and listen, while in your jams. My kids thought it was great to just watch t.v., eat junk food and mom & dad were home together. I went into Conference wanting to be spiritually fed. On Saturday, the kids were watching cartoons and when it was time for conference to start I switch the channel and the water works began. I felt like my heart was going to bust out of my body it was so excited. I listened so hard that when the kids were begging for lunch I couldn't even move. I didn't want to miss a word of it. When the intermediate would start the water works would begin again because I was sad that I wouldn't get to hear this for another six months.
Why is that when I was kid conference was a serious drag but now I can't wait. I stocked up on all the goods for the weekend so that I wouldn't have to leave my house to go get snacks. It helped that the weekend was cold and rainy and no one wants to venture out in those conditions.
Prior to conference I kept having a feeling that Mike and I needed to go to the Temple more often. Our lack of not going was not our will but the time to go together. I know I can go on my own but I like to go with Michael. So going over in my mind the next few weekends and how they are jammed pack with activities I couldn't think of another night because I work at nights so we are never home. Then the thought came to me that We are home for a sliver of time on Wednesdays. Mike has Wednesdays off so I thought or I was prompted to suggest to Mike that we go on Wednesday morning before I have to go to work. He didn't want to agree right away but when I asked a neighbor if she could take my kids while we went and she was happy to do it. He couldn't really argue about what to do with the kids. Going to the Temple in the middle of the week and the middle of the day was quite an experience. There was nothing but really old people. The spirit was so strong I think because there wasn't so much hustle and bustle like on a weekend. I had a great time. Hopefully we can make it habit now that we know when we can go.
