yodeling, SNOW, week with no kids, dogsitting

We had heard the rumors that there was going to be SNOW up at Snowbird was we decided to see if the rumors were true. We went back to Snowbird to spend the day with Mike's parents while Mike was at work.

Mike had arranged for me to have a massage in the morning.(now before thinking that my husband is the greatest, he actually won something! The something that he won was the massage but since he has no desire to ever have a massage I was the lucky recipient to his goodness.) While I was sitting in the solarium the snow started to fall hard and fast. I almost started to cry because I don't want or like the snow. I'm not ready to put back on my winter clothes or the extra pounds that I seem to gain during the winter months. I know I know it's job security for Mike but for once can we gradually ease into winter instead of goodbye summer here is winter? (enough with the snow hating, I'm sorry) I did though enjoy my 50 minutes of HEAVEN. I felt so rejuvenated and peaceful. I think I need a massage more often.

I met up with the kids and Liz for lunch and after lunch we headed down to October Fest. At October Fest you see lots of bratwurst, people dressed up in crazy Bavarian costumes, beer and hear lots of polka music and lyrics in the music that only Germans can understand. Mike said that to make the festival a little more authentic they give free rooms to people that are dressed up in their Bavarian costumes. I think I need to get a hold of a costume so I can stay at the 'Bird for free.

While we were listening to some people yodel and play their polka music, the performers asked for any volunteers for yodeling. I told Jersey that she should go up. She didn't like that. But Grandpa Carl saw a hidden talent of Jersey that needed to shine. Yes that is right yodeling! He took her up to the stage where she was not happy to be until the performer asked her what her name was. She proudly said "JERSEY" he liked that name. We have never trained Jersey to be a professional yodeler but after this experience we might have to look into it. She was quite cute of course. She would repeat the sounds that the other yodeler was giving her and then she would giggle. People were laughing and just thought that she was cute. The winner was chosen by the amount of applause they received. Jersey and another girl were in a sudden death round. Jersey bet her out. She WON! the contest and received a greatest hits yodeling CD. She was quite pleased with herself. Who knew she was a closet yodeler?

As before mentioned we have been spending a lot of time up at Snowbird. Because of course Mike had things to do the rest of this week and I had to work we left the kids with Mike's parents who were staying up there for the week. We left them on Monday and they will come home tonight. I didn't think I would miss them but I have. My house has been quite quiet. Because they were gone I thought I would go and spend sometime shopping but I was done shopping so soon that I was wishing I had to go to work earlier. I know the kids are having fun and it's nice to talk to Mike without being interrupted or being told that we (mike and I ) need to keep our voices down because they kids not want to hear us get to a certain decimal level when speaking to each other.

We have replaced the sound of children, with a dog. No we didn't get a dog for reals we are just dog sitting while Mike's sister and fam are at Disneyland. I didn't want to forget to go to their house so we brought her here. What a treat. She is like having a kid. Mike didn't bring her kennel which I think was mistake we tried to keep her in the bathroom all night but she didn't like that so we put her outside again she didn't like that. At 3 am she needed to go outside to do her business but wouldn't stay out. I thought it was funny, when she tried to jump up to my bed this morning. I have to jump into my bed because it's so high the dog only made it half way up. and couldn't get up any further so she would just sit there barking until I woke up. I'm use to that routine because my kids do that to me every morning. The cats haven't appreciated someone new in "their" house so it's been interesting with them. I just hope they both will stay way from the dog.

I apologize for the two long posts. But with no kids around I have been surprisingly busy and hadn't had time to sit and think about what I wanted to say. I knew though that I had to do it today before the kids came home.

I can't believe you see snow, I just burned my feet walking outside for 2 seconds here. I wish I could have seen the polka and yodeling! You guys seems to always find things to do in Utah! I must be a bad Mom, because when my kids leave out of town with Steph, it is heaven with that peace and quiet, and I love it!

You hate snow!?!?! Hmmm...

Well, Jersey and I are going to have to have a yodeling contest sometime. I've sung along to enough Jewel and Cranberries that I think I can hold my own against Jersey. She may have been crowned a champion, but she's never gone up against THIS closet yodeler!
