Reason for the Season

Saturday even though we were in lock down mode, I got out the Christmas decorations and took the time to clean the house and put up some Christmas decor. Do you ever feel like you don't have enough? I do at Christmas time that I don't have enough decorations. I have been collecting stuff every year so that the next year doesn't feel so bare. Last year was the first year I had a Nativity set. It isn't your tradition kind but it's cute. I set it all up and I thought it was really great. As I was attending to the other areas of the house with Christmas decor I noticed that Phoenix had broken one of the Christmas rules: No touching the Christmas decorations. I thought about being upset until I saw what he had done. He had moved my spread out Nativity and moved it in and had the animals, wise men and Shepard's encircling the baby Jesus. Now I know that real reason for the season but at that moment looking at that humble scene. It didn't really matter anymore how many ornaments were on my tree or that the decorations are mis-match (no theme). It matters on what I teach my kids about Christmas that it's about giving to those in need and thinking about Jesus's birth and life.

My kids do the same thing with our nativity set.
