Is that a moose?

On 7-11 Mike had the day off. We wanted to do something that was fun, inexpensive and something that made us exercise. I had never been to Silver Lake. I wanted to see what it looked like. {Silver Lake is located near Brighton, where Mike use to work when we first met} Since it was 7-11 we went there for our free Slurpee's then off to Brighton. We took a walk around the lake then we hiked up to twin lakes. {I will be honest the hike was difficult for me but I am out of shape.}

Phe was a trailblazer no stops for him. Jersey was a little more clumsy. We got to the lake at the top of our hike, it was beautiful. It was slightly overcast...then a huge rainstorm came. There was lightening so to hide out under a tree wasn't a great idea. We were laughing because we were soaked and having to hike down the mountain. We went through Brighton walking on what would be ski runs in the winter.

Just taking in the flora and fauna. As we were walking through the town of Brighton I saw something in distance. I got a little nervous because it was huge and brown and moving. Now I know there are no bears that are that big in Utah so I didn't really know what it was. Then it lifted it's head. It was a MOOSE!!!! I have never seen a moose in real life. I have seen ones in movies and on my Uncle Sank's wall. I was quite astonished. Mike couldn't believe I picked it out since I don't have the greatest eyes.

The moose was hanging out in the creek just eating. We wanted to get closer for a better look of course. So we ran through the brush to get to the other side of the road to see. When we got to the other side we saw his massiveness. He had a huge rack on him. Jersey said" Mom, we need a gun to kill it" As we were watching him eat he plopped down in the middle of the creek for a swim.

Amazing. A nice fun day that didn't cost a whole lot. I'm glad the mountains are so close so that we can enjoy their beauty.

It is beautiful up there. I've only seen one moose in my life and that thing was so ugly. I've heard they are pretty mean too, so glad he wasn't too close.
