Dental visit

Jersey went to the Dentist on Thursday. It was quite an experience. First there was excitement then fear and then excitement followed by more fear from mom. I will explain......

Jersey was so excited to get to see the treasure box that she couldn't contain herself. Then when I told her that she had to sit in the chair she started to scream and yell at me telling me she wasn't going to do this anymore. I felt really embarrassed. Then when I talked to her about how she could sit on my lap and I would hold her she felt better. The hygienist brushed her teeth really good. Jersey thought that she was so cool by getting to wear sunglasses while they cleaned. Then it came time to take x-rays she did pretty good with that as well. The dentist came in and examined, 6 cavities. I was thinking what the heck? Was I honestly thinking that she would have no cavities on her first dental visit? YES!! Why I was thinking that, I don't know. Oh well, we were then referred to the dentist's brother who does pediatric dental. He was explaining that he would like Jersey to go there because he knows a lot more about children teeth. I was thinking seriously you went to dental school is it really that much of a difference who fills in her cavities? So what if she has metal fillings, I do I don't think that it is a problem. I guess when it comes down to see if the insurance will cover pediatric dental. Then I will make my decision based of that.

Haha, I can relate!! I'll tell you the truth since I think the dentist lied to you a little.... Since she has so many cavities, they will probably put her under and do all her work at one time. Their instruments are smaller too and easier to fit in their little mouths. Kids have a hard time keeping their mouths open for longer than a minute, and some are not so cooperative. I dont think it has anything to do with the dentist knowing more about childrens teeth? I'm pretty sure they're all the same. Haha. It'll be much easier for Jers to do it that way...Plus their office's are geared towards kids so its always more fun for them there! Ü
