The Caribbean of the Rocky Mountains

{ La Beau's the best place for a chocolate,raspberry, oreo shake}

Oh I love Bear Lake. We went there for four days. It was nice to be away from the world. We had no cellphone reception so no one could call us. On Sunday morning is when we left. Jersey came into our room about 6:30 in the morning jumping on our bed telling Mike and I to get up. It was like Christmas for her she couldn't wait to go. So we got all packed and ready to go. Things were great on the car ride there. Kids were happy no complaints. We had to wait to check in so we took a walk down to the beach. With in Minutes Jersey had peed her pants. I totally blame myself for not asking her to go to the bathroom before we took our walk. But that little mishap didn't stop Jersey from playing in the water. She and Phoenix just started finding shells.

The water was so warm and inviting. It is always so blue which I love. On Monday we spent the whole day at the beach. Riding the Jet ski and just lounging in the water and on the beach. The kids were happy to play in the sand and get as dirty as they wanted to. They also loved to throw sand at each other. Sometimes am I raising monsters because of things they do. Phoenix did a lot of taste testing of the sand. I was wondering what he thought it was going to taste like. Jersey enjoyed riding the jet ski the most but not with me but with Mike. Mike told Jersey that I would dump her if she rode with me. So she was a little apprehensive to come with me.

After going into town we went and drove around to see the many places that are around Bear Lake. Usually we go up to Idaho since it is so close and buy lottery tickets but we didn't do that this time. We just drove around Round Valley. It was so pretty the kids loved to see the animals on the farms that we past. As we were passing a farm we came across some cattle that looked very odd. They looked like the cross between a yak and a long horned cow. They were huge.

So we had to stop and take pictures.

On Tuesday we got a late start to getting to the beach. Mike and Carl decided that they wanted to go on a bike ride. Which was fine but by the time we got to the lake the wind was picking up and the afternoon thunderstorms were rolling in. It was sad because I wanted to stay on the beach again but we had to move everything back up to our campsite. Within minutes from packing up the rain came pouring down. We were all huddled under the Ramada at the campsite. We quickly made dinner and then went to our tents for the rest of the night. The kids were good but they were getting a little stir crazy. Mike and I were trying to finish our Harry Potter books so we had a hard time concentrating on the kids. (I know I felt like a horrible parent.) The rain came so hard and so fast that our tent began to flood. It felt like we were on top of a water bed. Even though it was rainy and cold we still had a fun time at Bear Lake. I can't wait to go back next year.

That sounds like an exciting trip! I've never been to Bear Lake, but the pictures of it look beautiful! I wonder what those bull things were, they look really cool. We've been in a tent/water bed before & it was NOT fun! Don't worry, I always get the "bad parent" syndrome when I get a good book - but then I think - hey, they are learning by example that reading is a really, really great thing! That's a good thing right?
